St Helens Group

St Helens Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) Group

St Helens is a town in Merseyside, though really Lancashire, and is most famous for Glass, Rugby League & Beechams Pills.

The group was formed by Lorraine & Anne back around 2010, Derek started to help around 2017.

Lorraine has now stepped down, but we are expecting a third facilitator to join us at the beginning of May.

We meet in a town centre venue on the 4th Monday of most months, December usually the exception being the 3rd Monday, with group approval. Sadly though, at the moment, we are restricted to Zoom on line meetings. We have a wide geographical coverage and many members from Warrington, Halton, Leigh, Wigan & beyond attend. Everyone is welcome. Members can also keep in touch via the Group Facebook Page (Restricted to Members Access Only) The group receives wonderful support from the local Council, NHS Healthy Living Team and have tie ins with other local support organisations. Prior to COVID, we, along with Amparo, St Helen’s Council & the Healthy Living Team, hosted very successful ‘Suicide Memorial Services’, the last in 2019 attracting almost 200 people.
