Every situation is different and our reactions are unique to us – we all need different types of support. Below are a range of organisations that you may find helpful – please be aware that policies will differ from one organisation to another.

Support for under 18s

We know that suicide affects everyone in the family and community, regardless of their age and we all need the right support. If you are under 18, there are some excellent organisations who you can talk to and seek support from.

We are sorry but you cannot use our services if you are under 18, even if you are accompanied by someone older, as we do not have the appropriate qualifications or insurance. We strongly encourage you to get in touch with one of the organisations below. If you are an adult caring for a young adult or child who has been bereaved by suicide, take a look at supporting children and young adults for more information.

Supporting children and young adults

Those of us who have experienced this terrible tragedy truly understand. None of us need to suffer alone. Together we help each other.

We help individuals support each other, at the time of their loss and in the months and years that follow. We aim to provide safe, confidential environments where people can share their experiences and feelings, giving and gaining support from each other.

Local & Virtual Groups

By entering your postcode or local town, you can locate your nearest peer to peer support group. We offer both face to face and virtual support groups. Our group facilitators have also been bereaved by suicide, so you will be met with understanding.

Phone Support

Our supportline is run by trained volunteers personally impacted by suicide. While we’re not a counselling service and can’t provide support for wider mental health or social care needs, we’re here to listen and support your grief journey. Due to demand, call duration is limited for support at scale.

Email Support

Some people find it easier to write down their thoughts and feelings or ask for information when it might be difficult to pick up a phone. Like the Supportline, our Volunteers have experience of suicide bereavement.
